From flight simulators for electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs) with mixed reality technology to hydrogen fuel cells for the climate-neutral flying of tomorrow to air defense and defense systems - ILA Berlin is Europe's most important trade show for aerospace innovations. From June 5 to 9 it will be showcasing the future of flying at the capital region's airport BER. Today the Minister President of Brandenburg, Dr. Dietmar Woidke, and the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, took a first look at the highlights and innovations of some 600 exhibitors from all over the world during their "ILA Backstage" tour. They paid particular attention to exhibitors from Berlin and Brandenburg such as Rolls-Royce, MTU Aero Engines, Astro- und Feinwerktechnik Adlershof and FAST - Future Aviation Simulation Technologies, as well as national and international exhibitors such as Emirates, Airbus, Deutsche Aircraft, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Diehl Defence, MBDA and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
With global corporations, highly specialized small businesses, start-ups, research institutions and universities, the capital region is one of Germany's aerospace centers of excellence. The regional players are setting standards for sustainable, low-emission aviation.
Dr. Dietmar Woidke, Minister President of the State of Brandenburg: "The ILA is the largest aerospace trade show in the EU in 2024. It is a great honor for the capital region of Berlin-Brandenburg to host it at BER. By signing the framework agreement on financial participation for the years 2026 to 2030 together with the State of Berlin, we have sent a forward-looking signal to all those involved in future ILAs - this is the right place for the trade show! This year's ILA will once again shine with the latest innovations and technical highlights. The energy and propulsion revolution in the air is in full swing and making great progress. The turning-point in time is also visible at the largest exhibitor, the German Federal Armed Forces. Brandenburg supports the turning-point in time and benefits from it at the same time. With the Bundeswehr's investment in the Holzdorf airbase, the aviation industry will become even more important. With the Arrow 3 air defense system on display at the ILA, which will be stationed in Brandenburg, we are strengthening our defense capabilities. I would like to thank everyone involved for the professional organization!”
Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin: "The Berlin Air Show is one of the most important trade shows of its kind and attracts experts from all over the world. The ILA positions the capital region as a key location for innovation and technology and is also an important economic factor. It was therefore important for Berlin and Brandenburg to secure the future of the ILA in the region until 2030. Over the next few days, exhibitors from science and industry will be showcasing their expertise and groundbreaking developments - with numerous representatives from the capital region. I wish all participants and guests an exciting time at the show.”
